Sticks. This can be an important place to spend a little more money if you can. It is important to remember that if the stick is taken care of, it can last a few seasons. There are hundreds of options. Some of the very inexpensive sticks are really for true beginners and younger players. I’ve found that the DeBeer Triton (or equivalent) is a good intermediate level stick for 5/6 or 7/8 players without having to go to the most expensive levels. If your child wants to play defense and is a 7/8 player, buy a defenseman’s stick with a longer shaft. If he later switches positions, the shaft can be replaced relatively inexpensively or cut shorter for free. We recommend that 5/6 players not use a long shaft on defense. If you’re not sure, you can always ask your coach.
Goalies. The team will provide a helmet, chest protector, and a goalie stick. All other equipment is same as above. A goalie should also have a regular stick to work on catching and throwing skills will help. Goalies will also have the opportunity to play other positions during the season if they want to, so a regular stick and pads will come in handy.
Go Rebels!!
